Dear MOSAIC Families,

It is hard to believe we are only one week away from the winter break. The school year continues to fly by. I would like to thank are MOSAIC families for your continuous support and understanding this school year.

It was announced at last week’s PTO meeting that Mrs. Samantha Stormer would be stepping down as PTO’s President due to health concerns. The PTO’s Executive Committee voted Ms. Ashley Fleming as her replacement. This now leaves a vacancy in the Secretary position on the PTO Board. Nominations for this position must be sent to me at ([email protected]) no later than Monday, December 21st. If you are nominated for this position, you will be notified via email and have until Monday, January 4th to accept or decline your nomination. Nominees in acceptance will give a brief presentation at the January 12th PTO meeting. Voting will occur during the January 12th PTO meeting and the elected individual will be announced that evening.

We would like to thank Mrs. Stormer for her dedication and commitment to MOSAIC Elementary School and the Mehlville School District. We wish her good health and the very best in the future.

Reporting an Absence

We would like to remind our families of reporting your child’s absence if they are not going to be at school.  You can report an absence on MOSAIC’s attendance line at 314-467-7910 or send an email to our attendance secretary Mrs. Melina Ulrich at [email protected]. Please do not send an email to your child’s classroom teacher to report an absence. The school office will communicate your child’s absence to their teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.

School Picture Pick-up for MOSAIC@Home Families

School picture proofs and pre-ordered packets for our MOSAIC@Home students are available for pick-up today, 12/14 until 4:00. Please ring the intercom and you will be met at the door with your items.

Next Monday, 12/21 packets will be available outside during supply pick-up from 8:00-9:00am and 3:30-4:00pm.

Proofs and packets went home with A and B Cohorts last Thursday and Friday. The MOSAIC order code is MOSA4912.

Retakes are scheduled for January 28 and 29.

Information from our School Food and Nutrition Department

Exciting news from School Food & Nutrition! Starting Dec. 15, students in attendance will be given a shelf stable meal bag to take home for the following day when they are learning virtually.  The meal bags are FREE for all students. Parents, you don’t have to do anything!  Providing meal bags to students is another way we can support them while they are learning virtually.

The bags will contain:

Breakfast-3 items: various items such as cereal, cereal bar, poptart, nutri-grain bar, zeezee bar and raisins or craisins and a juice box.

Lunch-4 items: Meat stick, cheddar cheese cup/salsa cup, tortilla chips, applesauce cup.

Additionally, we will be making a change to the menu items we will be offering in January at MOSAIC. Instead of offering what is listed both co-hort days, we will be serving what is listed for that day on the menu. The January menu is already  offering several days in which both co-horts are offered the same choice. We will be adding Cheeseburgers as a daily option along with Turkey sandwich and Sunbutter & Jelly as a daily option still.

All of the unique items featured are less than $10 and are from local crafters and Mosaic families.

Dear MOSAIC Families,

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving Break! I hope everyone enjoyed their time off and was able to catch up on rest. I would like to remind our families that Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd will be virtual days for all students. Virtual school hours for Tuesday and Wednesday will be 9:10am-3:55pm. We look forward to the return of Cohort A to on campus learning this Thursday and Cohort B on Friday.

The Mosaic Winter Shop is going to open in a few days and we are in need of memorable keepsakes to sell to our Mosaic students at a reasonable kid friendly price (nothing over $10). We are on a mission to spread as much contactless joy this season as we possibly can. Please join us! We are putting together a package for contactless pick-up at one of three locations that will contain supplies for our graham cracker house contest and snowflakes for a ‘Spread Joy’ banner that will be displayed outside the school. Each pick-up location will have a collection bin for non-perishable items to be donated to the Affton Food Pantry and an “official” North Pole mailbox where you can drop off your letters to Santa.

At this time, we are only able to offer the packages to Mosaic students, but we encourage all family members to join in on the fun! You will receive a package for each student signed-up. Sign-up ends Wednesday, December 2nd. Contactless pick-up/drop-off time slots will be arranged on Sunday, December 6th and Monday, December 7th. Further details will be sent out prior to pick-up/drop-off.

We will be assembling packages for Mosaic students which will contain supplies for a graham cracker house contest and a snowflake for a ‘Spread Joy’ banner that will be displayed outside the school. Dear MOSAIC Families,

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Just a reminder that school will not be in session this Wednesday through Friday for Thanksgiving break. I imagine Thanksgiving will look different for many of us this year. With the unfortunate rise in positive cases in our area, I do hope all families take necessary precautions to remain safe and healthy this season.

Dr. Gaines announced last Friday afternoon that the Mehlville School District will remain virtual following the Thanksgiving Break through Wednesday, December 2nd. School will return to in-person learning on Thursday, December 3rd. Monday, November 30th will be a typical virtual Monday with school hours from 9am-2:20pm. Virtual school hours for Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd are 9:10am-3:55pm. Students in both cohorts will be expected to participate on December 1st and 2nd. Although these two days are virtual, students will not be on their device for the entire day. Students will have time to work independently on their school work and will have screen breaks periodically throughout the day. MOSAIC teachers will be reaching out to their students’ families with more specifics about the schedule for December 1st and 2nd.

*MOSAIC@Home students will continue to follow their typical daily schedule.

YOU’VE BEEN SNOWBALLED!

The PTO would like to celebrate the month of December by hosting an event called “You’ve been SNOWBALLED!” Just like the Mosaic BOO!, we will match your student up with another student to “Snowball” with a goody bag ($5 minimum) on their front porch. Sign up is now until November 25th and matches will be sent out November 30th. The “Snowball” event will run from 12/1-12/20. Just like the “BOO” event you have anytime from the 1st of December to the 20th to “Snowball” your MOSAIC friend.

Calling All Talented and Crafty Mosaic Families and Friends (even Mosaic student’s can lend a hand). The Mosaic Winter Shop is going to open in December and we are in need of memorable keepsakes to sell to our Mosaic students at a reasonable kid friendly price (nothing over $10). Looking for ornaments (MOSAIC MOM, MOSAIC DAD, MOSAIC GRANDMA/GRANDPA, etc.), cool coffee mugs, thermal cups, winter themed wreaths, jewelry, skin care items, edible items, paper crafts, snow globes, anything dad/guy friendly, bbq sets, sports themed, items for pets, etc. Items a parent or grandparent would treasure for years to come. Dear MOSAIC Families,

We continue to experience beautiful fall weather as we quickly approach the middle of November. This affords us all the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Please remember to take safety precautions when outside near other people. St. Louis County, and more specifically, the zip codes our district serve continue to see increases in positive Covid-19 cases. We want our MOSAIC students, staff and families to stay healthy!

Fall School Pictures

We will have fall pictures next week. Cohort A (A-K) will have pictures on Thursday, November 12th and Cohort B (L-Z) on Friday, November 13th. We ask that our MOSAIC@Home students join us between 9am-12 on Thursday, November 12th. MOSAIC@Home families can park on our top lot and walk their child to our exterior gym doors (located at the bottom of the steps from the top lot).  A MOSAIC staff member will greet you at the gym door and have you sign-in your child.  Parents/guardians will remain outside as their child is being photographed.  Be sure to wear your very best outfit next week for picture day!

Good Afternoon MOSAIC Families,

This week’s email blast has important information from our cafeteria manager, our school librarian and from our PTO. Please take a few moments to read through the entire email as we also give details about a fun Halloween event on October 29th hosted by our PTO.

A note from our cafeteria

Beginning Oct. 20th, MOSAIC’s cafeteria will now be serving two main entrees each day for both cohorts of students. Meals offered to students on one day will be available the next day for students. This will provide students more choice in their meal selection.

Turkey sandwich and Sunbutter & Jelly will still be offered daily.

We want to hear from our families regarding their child’s experience in the cafeteria and their opinion about the food that is offered. Please follow the link below to fill out a brief survey on the topics mentioned above.

Supply Pick-up

We will continue to offer supply pick-ups for MOSAIC@Home students only. During supply pick-up, families will receive classroom resources and materials from Ms. Huettenmeyer, Ms. Meyers and Mrs. Klang. MUMS FUNDRAISER

We want to thank everyone again for your participation and support with the mums fundraiser this year! We were blown away by the success of this fundraiser and the generosity of our Mosaic community. With your help, we sold 1,785 mums and made $4,316.20 for the PTO. YOU ALL ROCK!!!
