January 25, 2021 – Dr. Clark Email

Dear MOSAIC Families,

Welcome to our first full week of school of in-person instruction since last March. The students have adjusted well to having all their friends back in class. The students have been doing a great job of practicing social distancing protocols and being safe. All the students, including our students at home have adjusted so well to all the changes they have experienced over the past ten months. Keep up the great work, everyone!

I would like to remind our families of two important items this week. First, please remember to charge your child’s chromebook each evening when they come home from school. Several students are arriving to school with a depleted Chrombook battery. Due to social distancing and limited amount of outlets in classrooms, it is difficult to provide charging stations to numerous students at the same time. The second important item is to have your child dressed according to the weather. Make sure your child has a heavy coat, gloves and hat if necessary. As I look back to previous years, February has traditionally been a very cold month with snow. Let us hope winter is kind to us this year and decides to pass us by with the cold weather.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that we will be sending your child’s second quarter report card this afternoon through email.

Picture Retake Day

Picture retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, February 3 from 9am-Noon. Students who were not photographed on the original picture day will receive an order form to bring home.

If your child was photographed but you’d like a retake, order forms are available in the school office. If you previously ordered a picture packet and are choosing retakes, please send the packet back to school with your child on retake day.

Yearbook Design

Mrs. Klang and Mr. Fuhrman are hosting a yearbook design contest for K-2 and 3-5 students. Please view the attached flyer for more details. Designs are due by February 5th. Students, let’s see your creativity shine!

Kindergarten Lottery Application

Kindergarten applications for the 2021-2022 school year are now open. Families can access the application under the family portal. Families must contact their home school to set up the parent portal, even those who are currently at MOSAIC. Once the parent portal is set-up, you will have access to an optional ‘E’ form where the MOSAIC Lottery Form can be found. Families with children currently at MOSAIC have first choice to place their child in kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year. Be sure to apply before the application deadline this Friday, January 29th.

Heart Challenge

Once again MOSAIC will be participating in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge! This will start on February 1st and end on February 26th. Students will be asked to fundraise for the AHA; this year’s school goal is $2,000! The class that raises the most money will earn a special PE day with Coach Steinhoff. Students will also earn individual prizes for various amounts fundraised. During the fundraiser, in PE students will be completing the Ninja Jump Challenge while learning about cardiovascular disease and the importance of physical activity. Students may earn various Ninja Belts for each level they complete. Please contact Coach Steinhoff with any questions regarding the AHA Kids Heart Challenge. You can also follow MOSAIC Elementary PE on Facebook where more information and updates will be posted.

SPREADING JOY BANNER

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Spreading Joy campaign! The banner has been a huge hit up at the school. As we move into the second semester, we are looking forward to new ways to bring joy to our community. We will be taking down the banner by the end of the month and storing it to bring joy next year.

If you would like to keep the snowflake you made as a keepsake, please pick it up before Saturday, January 30th as we will not be keeping them. Thank you!
