Dear MOSAIC Families,
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I have a lot of information to share with you in this week’s email blast. Please take the time to read through the information and contact me if you have any questions.
Dr. Gaines announced on Friday that K-5 students would be returning to five days of in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19th. We are prepared to welcome back all our students who have chosen in-person learning at MOSAIC. Ms. Huettenmeyer, Ms. Meyers and Mrs. Klang will continue to provide instruction for families who have selected MOSAIC@Home for the second semester.
As MOSAIC comes closer to normal capacity, I ask for our family’s cooperation with arrival and dismissal. We will now have more cars dropping off students in the morning and more families on our parking lots in the afternoon. Both arrival and dismissal procedures will be similar to what we have been doing this school year and in the past. To help arrival go smooth and quick, I ask that all families say their “goodbyes” and have your child’s mask on their face as you pull up to drop off. Backpacks should be easily accessible for your child to make drop off quick. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free each day for our students. MOSAIC will also continue to be a peanut free and fish free school. Please keep this in mind when you pack your child’s lunch for the day. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students and staff safe.
Once again MOSAIC will be participating in the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge! This will start on February 1st and end on February 26th. Students will be asked to fundraise for the AHA; this year’s school goal is $2,000! The class that raises the most money will earn a special PE day with Coach Steinhoff. Students will also earn individual prizes for various amounts fundraised. During the fundraiser, in PE students will be completing the Ninja Jump Challenge while learning about cardiovascular disease and the importance of physical activity. Students may earn various Ninja Belts for each level they complete. Please contact Coach Steinhoff with any questions regarding the AHA Kids Heart Challenge. You can also follow MOSAIC Elementary PE on Facebook where more information and updates will be posted.
Mrs. Klang and Mr. Fuhrman are hosting a yearbook design contest for K-2 and 3-5 students. Please view the attached flyer for more details. Designs are due by February 5th. Students, let’s see your creativity shine!
Ms. Anna McGuire is hosting another virtual family night on Tuesday, January 26th at 5:30pm for K-5 families. This month’s event is a virtual escape room. Please view the attached flyer for more information.
Kindergarten Lottery Application
Kindergarten applications for the 2021-2022 school year will open on Monday, January 11th. Families can access the application under the parent portal. Families must contact their home/neighborhood school to set up the parent portal, even those who are currently at MOSAIC. Once the parent portal is set-up, you will have access to an optional ‘E’ form titled 2021-2022 school choice. Through this form, you can select MOSAIC – MLEM as your school of choice for your incoming kindergarten student. Families with children currently at MOSAIC have first choice to place their child in kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year.
